Overview

The Allograft Surgical Techniques Course provides a unique hands-on opportunity to learn surgical techniques and develop expertise utilizing aortic and pulmonary allografts. Learn techniques for infective endocarditis, the Ross procedure, and small aortic root from a team of world-class surgeons from the top-ranked cardiology and heart surgery program in the U.S., the Cleveland Clinic.

Cleveland Clinic Simulation and Advanced Skills Center

The mission of this state-of-the-art facility is to support education, scholarship and training of those who serve and foster delivery of quality patient care and safety. The Surgical Skills Training Lab allows providers to learn new or practice existing skills by engaging in hands-on procedures. The lab also includes an adjacent classroom for didactic presentations.

  • Eric Roselli, MD, Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery, Director of the Aorta Center
    Staff Surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
    Dr. Roselli’s specialty interests include adult cardiac surgery, surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm, and dissection including endovascular treatment, aortic valve repair and replacement including minimally invasive and percutaneous treatment, high-risk reoperation surgery, aortic related congenital issues, and surgery for cardiovascular tumors
  • Shinya Unai, MD, Surgical Director of the Aortic Valve Center
    Staff Surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
    Dr. Unai’s specialty interests include adult cardiac surgery, complex re-operative heart surgery, surgery of the aorta/root, Ozaki procedure, Ross procedure, endocarditis, heart/lung transplantation, ventricular assist device, coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG), valve repair and replacement, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
  • Michael Zhen-Yu Tong, MD, Director of Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support
    Staff Surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
    Dr. Tong’s specialty interests include complex cardiac disease, ventricular assist devices, heart transplantation, aortic surgery, aortic root and valve sparing root operations, complex valvular disease, coronary artery disease including total arterial revascularization, surgical cardiomyopathy, complex redo operations, minimally invasive cardiac operations, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), pulmonary embolism, pericardial disease, and cardiac tumors.
  • Haytham Elgharably, MD, Surgical Director of the Endocarditis Center
    Staff Surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
    Dr. Elgharably’s specialty interests include lung transplantation, mitral and aortic valve repair and replacement surgery, bypass surgery, surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm, reoperations, endocarditis, constrictive pericarditis, right heart failure, and surgery for acute and chronic pulmonary emboli.
