A New Heart and New Beginnings

Joey's journey began with a promising military career. However, in 2019, kidney issues halted his deployment plans. "It had appeared on some blood tests, and I would be unable to deploy with my Marines," Joey recalls. He returned home to monitor his kidney function more closely.

A Legacy of Compassion and Generosity

Vic Felde was, in a word, beloved. His daughter Tawnee warmly recalls his widespread admiration, saying, “He was loved by so many, and I don’t think he ever fully realized the depth of it.”

A Vietnam War veteran, Vic served courageously as a medic, providing critical care under harrowing conditions. His life post-service was equally diverse; he worked variously as a prison guard, a waiter, and later, as the beloved owner of a local bar.

Nick has been a dedicated police officer in Colorado for 18 years. When not on duty, the married father of two enjoys riding his dirt bike, a passion that began when he was a child. Just before starting his career in law enforcement, he broke his collarbone while dirt biking and needed a metal plate for the repair. During his swearing-in ceremony, he couldn’t raise his shoulder to take the oath due to the injury. However, the collarbone eventually healed, and Nick resumed dirt biking and serving his community.

From that prenatal diagnosis to her 13th birthday celebration last year, Anna has undergone five open-heart surgeries. She has also faced complications resulting in paralysis of her vocal cord and diaphragm, recovered from a ruptured aorta and a stroke, and endured numerous procedures along with an extensive regimen of medications.

Celebration of Life Gala 2024

On behalf of LifeNet Health, we would like to personally invite you to join us on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Hilton Norfolk “The MAIN" for the “Celebration of Life Gala,” our signature black-tie event. This elegant event provides a unique opportunity for organizations and individuals in the community to support an important cause. Together we can help spread awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation, in addition to advancing lifesaving research programs and supporting initiatives focused on the families of our donors, whose gifts are never forgotten.

Devoted Family Man Saves Life Through Donation

Puerto Rico native Jose Lugo was a hero to his family, and when he passed away in 2017, they were devastated. Thanks to his decision to register as an organ donor, Jose became a hero to another family as well, when he saved a woman’s life through the gift of his liver.
