Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center unveiling Gift of Life Donor Memorial
Sculpture April 30
Public is invited to join LifeNet Health and Bon Secours for this special event
RICHMOND, Va., (April 25, 2019) — Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center will honor organ and tissue donors with the unveiling of its donor memorial sculpture on April 30, 2019.
The LifeNet Health Foundation provided grant funding for the memorial, and its unveiling coincides with National Donate Life Month. Local artist Austin Warner from Trouble Dog Art is the creator of the sculpture. A former registered nurse, Warner is known for her creative work with a variety of alternative surfaces such as reclaimed or up-cycled wood or furniture, as well as naturally occurring earth elements. She was also personally touched by donation when a family member received the selfless gift of a liver transplant. The artwork will be displayed outside of the main entrance of Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center and can be viewed from both outside and the inside the hospital.
The community is invited to this free event. There will be several speakers on the topic of organ donation, as well as stories from a donor family member and recipient. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.
