Melissa Ann Chapman

Missy, as we called her, was 8 years old when she died after a freak accident occurring on the Va. Beach Boardwalk. She was a vibrant, fun-loving, very-active third grader at Plaza Elementary School . She was our middle-child, the centerfold of our family. She was the apple of her big brother’s eye! She was a best friend to her younger sister.
We are proud that she was able to touch so many lives as she lived. It continued in her death when she donated her organs. Her liver went to a 10 years old NY boy. Her kidneys went to a 29 years old woman and a young child. Her heart valves were donated and both corneas were donated to the Lions Eye Bank.
Never knowing how to quilt, it was an adventure for us to undertake. Not only thinking what to do for her square, but to partake in the sewing of the first few quilts. The love, understanding, compassion and fellowship we shared during these times have been sincerely treasured.
