Lloyd Shortridge

October 6, 1958 – November 30, 2009

This photo of Lloyd was taken I the spring of 2009. Fishing had always been a favorite pastime of his. The last few years of his life golfing had become quite important as well. He spent nearly every day that the weather permitted on the golf course. But I think that the most important thing in his life was the children he taught. Lloyd was a homebound teacher. He taught children that for medical or other reasons were not able to attend public school. It wasn’t until after his death that his family really got to see just how important these children were to him, but mostly how important that he was to them. One young lady in particular requested to speak at his memorial service. She told how Lloyd fought for privileges for her and other students that the school board usually did not allow for homebound students. It was amazing to see how he had touched her life and the life of other students that he taught. Lloyd is greatly missed by all who knew him.
