Supporting Donor Families

Your contributions will also support the families of our donors. Outreach efforts are centered on offering healing, points of connection, and hope. This is part of our commitment to provide 30 months of ongoing support to help everyone navigate their grief journey. Through the Foundation, you can help support:

Events that honor each donor, including holiday remembrances, and give families the opportunity to connect, like summer baseball games.
Hospital memorials to honor donors throughout Virginia.
The Donate Life Rose Parade float, which honors at least one LifeNet Health donor every year, and is a key part of the effort to highlight the importance of organ and tissue donation nationwide.

Community Education

Contributions enable us to offer high-quality education programs to the public, health care providers, and community partners. Our goal is to emphasize the importance of organ and tissue donation, including spreading the word about all the good it can do. One example of a community education initiative is our One Hero program, which was launched in 2021 with the support of the LifeNet Health Foundation. One Hero addresses the critical need for Black organ donors in Virginia by providing outreach and education to establish trust and dispel myths.

Research Programs

Contributions can also help advance research programs to enable breakthroughs that can advance health around the world. In this way, we honor the decisions of donors who want to contribute to scientific advancements that can help humanity.

Hospital Donor Memorial Projects

The LifeNet Health Foundation is proud to support Virginia hospitals by funding donor memorials. In recent years, memorials have been established at Chippenham Hospital, Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, Johnston-Willis Hospital, Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, and Lynchburg General Hospital.
